Operators can add product changeovers using a barcode scanner. This is useful when they are already accustomed to using barcodes, and there is not much additional information added to the changeovers (extra notes, LOT/Batch info, etc).

Pre-requisites:

How to get barcodes for product changeovers?

Changeover barcode format

The format of the changeover for the barcodes is: ****4#productId#

Generating the barcodes

To generate the barcodes, Evocon’s barcode creator (here) or a free online generator can be used - for example **this one.**

In case you need assistance in using the generator, please turn to Evocon Support at [email protected].

How does the product changeover using a barcode reader work?

When entering product changeovers with a barcode scanner you should keep in mind the following:

  1. The barcode reader needs to be connected to the computer where you use Evocon.
  2. The relevant station’s Shift View needs to be open as the active browser window/tab.
  3. Scanning a changeover barcode takes into account the station you are currently on in Shift View (applying the appropriate product route settings).
  4. If you scan a product changeover barcode, the changeover is applied 1 second in the past - meaning on the corresponding signal or in the beginning of the stop that was running. The blue changeover pin will indicate this.

What is different compared to manually entering the product changeover?

Using barcodes to enter the changeover, it is not possible to automatically add information about extra notes, target or LOT/Batch. If this information is necessary, this needs to be added manually after the changeover has been done - after it has been added to Shift View, it can be edited as any other changeover.
