With comparison you put a second period next to the timeframe you are looking at: last week against the week before, or this month against the same month last year. Both periods use the same filters and appear on the same chart and in the same data table.
Instead of switching the timeframe back and forth and calculating the differences yourself, you see the two periods side by side and the change between them.

Comparison is turned on from the Compare to chip in the filter bar, next to the timeframe. Once a comparison period is selected, every value in the report is shown for both periods: the chart draws a second bar next to each existing bar, and the data table adds the comparison value and the change under each number.
Your filters and X-axis selection stay as they are. Split by and the second Y-axis are not available while comparison is on (see Limitations below).

The Compare to chip sits in the filter bar, next to the timeframe.

Note: The comparison period is saved together with the report, so it is kept in your saved reports and in the reports you have scheduled to e-mail.

Open the Downtime report and set the timeframe and filters you want to analyse.
Click on the Compare to chip. The list of comparison periods opens, with the dates each one would cover.

The comparison options, with the dates each one covers.
Select the period you want to compare against. For Custom period, select the start and end date in the calendar and click Apply.

Custom period opens a two-month calendar, the same one as the timeframe selection.
The chart and the data table update, and the chip shows the selected period, for example βCompare to: 05.09.2026 - 11.09.2026β.

The chip shows the comparison period. The β removes it.

The dates of each option are calculated from your timeframe before you select it.

Example: Your timeframe is This month and the month is still running, for example 01.04.2026 - 13.04.2026. Preceding period is then the full previous month, 01.03.2026 - 31.03.2026. On the chart, the days you have not reached yet show only the comparison bar.
